SCHOLARSHIPS
(Distributed February 13, 2008)
The
State Department of Education and the Alabama Commission on
Higher Education (ACHE) are working collaboratively to
promote the AL Teacher Recruitment Incentive Program (ATRIP).
ATRIP is a scholarship program that targets high school
seniors and encourages them to become teachers in four
critical areas: Mathematics, special education, English
Language Arts, and science.
One hundred four-year scholarships
($5,000 per year) will be awarded based on academics and
financial need. Students can log on to the ATRIP Web site at
www.ATRIP.alabama.gov or see their
guidance counselor for complete information.
The deadline for ATRIP applications is March 31.
Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship—Deadline 3/5/08
Only TWO students may be nominated per school.
Students who already have full scholarship awards may not receive
this scholarship.
Interested seniors must sign-up and submit a completed application
to Ms. Page by February 22, 2008.
Kids’ Chance Scholarship—Deadline 5/1/08
Provides
scholarships for college to children who have had a parent killed or
totally disabled in an on-the-job accident. Students may apply at
