Culinary Team: Jac St.
John, Lindy Olive, and Lyna Schofield; alternate: Evotnie Madden
will compete for the FCCLA State Culinary Title on Saturday, April
10. This is the rescheduled date due to weather conflicts.
FCCLA State Meeting and STAR Events will take
place in Montgomery, March 12 and 13. The following students
will compete: Leah Russell (Career Investigation), Alex Garza
and Angie Martinez (Event Planning), Ashli Blevins (Hospitality),
and Jessica Armstead (Job Interview)
The next FCCLA meeting will take place Tuesday,
February 23, immediately after school
March meeting will take place Tuesday, March 30,
immediately after school
Spring community project will take place in April
– date to be announced
Thursday, April 8, FCCLA will “munchdown” at
Chili’s to celebrate a successful year.
Lyna Schofield represented FHS and Lauderdale County at the Alabama
Cattlemen's Association State Beef Cook-Off in Montgomery.
Lyna took 1st place in the North Region of Alabama for Senior High
(10th-12th grade). An honor she won last year, as well!
Her recipe was a Vietnamese Beef Curry and was wonderful!
Lyna, along with Jacob St. John and Lindy Olive, will be competing
at the FCCLA State Culinary STAR Events in Birmingham on February
13. Be sure to wish them good luck!
Jac St. John has been accepted into the Culinary
Program at Johnson and Wales, and has Ben awarded $26,000 in
scholarships over the next four years. Jac plans to attend the
Johnson and Wales campus in Charlotte, North Carolina. This is
exciting news for the Culinary Program at FHS.
